About Viviundercover
"Viviundercover" is a conceptual fotowork which deals with the cancellation of the formal categories of photography in itself and it´s definitions.
For instance terms such as "staging" and "authenticity" , "art" and "fashion".
While analysing the terms theoretically I also looked for ¨the natural pose“ in photography, in my practical work, which meant ¨fishing¨ and waiting for that pose. From this I drew one conclusion:
"There must be a moment when "authenticity", aesthetic and staging occur simultaneously." The conceptional work "Viviundercover" is based on my experiences during the collaboration with London based Paparazzi Jon Almanasi (21. February 2006) and the Barcelona based fashion photographer Txema Yeste (20.-21. October 2006). I took two different concepts from their work and way of working, these were, "to stage" and "to pursue".
Influenced by these ideas I staged and pursued my friend "Vivi" for a year (spring 2007-2008) and chose four themes from this period of time.
1.nature, 2. work, 3. food, 4. social environment
The result of this work was a huge mountain of photos. I took it and interpreted it in my studio using the method "rephotography". Afterwards I presented some images to selected magazines.
Some of them happily accepted them, leading to publications in March 2008 of the photos. For my diplomexhibition on the May 9, 2008 in the “Ufo Gallery” in Halle I chose
six photos
("reduction") which showed the gateway between "aesthetic", "authenticit"¨ and "staging", and likewise "artistic and commercial photography".
It was a conscious decision to show in the exhibition just parts of the entire concept. I wanted to challenge the conventional environment of artistic photos. Therefore I chose one motive and put it on three advertising spaces in Berlin. I filmed the people´s reactions to the motive which was free from commercial intentions but capable of being commercial.
At present part of the "reduction" of work "Viviundercover" can be seen in the “gallery Mokkameer” in Berlin Friedrichshagen.
